Human Factors Engineering is a scientific discipline that deals with the human-machine interface. It encompasses several specialties including psychological, social, physical, biological and safety characteristics of the user and his/her equipment.

For Mawashi, the science of human factors implies the knowledge of the internal and external systems of the human body, and the understanding the body’s reactions in very specific circumstances. We study physiological and psychological processes and reactions. Here are certain aspects of an individual equipment that we can enhance through our Human Factors expertise:

• Morphological Compatibility (wide morphological variety depending on ethnic origin, gender, anthropometric dimensions)
• Body Comfort (load distribution, reduction of pressure points, comfort optimisation, increase airflow)
• Load Carriage (load balance and stabilization, minimise sizes)
• Cognitive and Motor Response (ambidextrous, intuitive operation, one-hand adjustements wearing gloves)
• Aesthetics (based on the psychology of beauty, symmetry, and the proportions of the human body to give the impression of a good physical health and increase user acceptance)
• Visibility (field of view and peripheral vision)
• Compatibility with other equipment (ex.: operational equipment of the soldier)

Our Human Factors science results in apparel and equipment that ensures the end-user will be mobile, flexible, comfortable, non-fatigued, non-distracted, and most importantly be well protected from ballistic, blunt-impact, heat, and other serious threats.

The sciences of Human Factors and Biomimetics are utilized together to create apparel and equipment that act as a "second-skin" for the individual. By knowing the body structure and its dynamic mechanisms we are able to provide clothing, under-layers, plates, helmets, etc. that complement the body's natural motions and systems while providing high levels of protection.
