SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND EXPERIMENTAL DEVELOPMENT

Print

The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is a federal tax incentive program to encourage Canadian businesses of all sizes and in all sectors to conduct research and development (R&D) in Canada that will lead to new, improved, or technologically advanced products or processes.

Experimental development is the attempt to achieve technological advancement for the purpose of creating new, or improving existing, materials, devices, products or processes, including incremental improvements. In experimental development, the objective is the achievement of technological advancement. Experimental development follows a systematic investigation or search by experiment or analysis in a field of technology. The technological advancement can be either embodied in the new or improved materials, devices, products or processes, or represented by the technological know-how gained. An attempt to resolve technological uncertainty is an attempt to achieve technological advancement.

Mawashi employs the SR&ED Protocol to ensure there is consistency, accuracy, efficiency, and expediency for all projects and that all of the final work and results are valid within a scientific forum and can form the basis for evolution of science or technology principles and knowledge. With the SR&ED Protocol, Mawashi can identify the technological uncertainties of the project, formulate hypotheses, and perform experimentations and validations to obtain a technological advancement.
