Soldier Constraints

Mawashi understands the constraints in the soldier's operational work, where major physical, psychological and thermal stresses are harmful to his health and security. We know that it is possible to reduce theses stresses by enhancing the thermoregulation of the body with an external cooling source.

Human body Thermoregulation

Mawashi has studied the physiological and psychological factors that influence the natural thermoregulation mecanisms. In this way, we find the physical factors (different types and levels of physical activities), the individual factors (age, gender, weight, physical condition, aerobic capacity, etc.), the vestimentary factors and the environmental factors. Furthermore, we understand the importance of the natural evacuation of perspiration that assures the cooling of the body and the comfort of the individual.

Environments and Thermal Stress

Since the soldier work in variable environments, he is at risk to feel faint because of heat. At very high temperatures, the body cannot become acclimatized to the environment by itself and it needs an external source of cooling. Three types of faintness are caused by heat: in order of increasing gravity, there is: heat cramps, exhaustion caused by heat, and heat strokes. The primary cause of these phenomenons is related to the incapacity of the body to release heat. However, in certain climatic conditions (ex. temperate/humid, desert/dry, etc.) the clothes stop the body's natural thermoregulation by creating a barrier that prevent the evacuation of the core temperature. The protective equipments and the multilayers are the main reason why.

Previous Successes

Mawashi has developed a lightweight and autonomous Microclimate Cooling System that functions in harmony with the natural thermoregulation mecanisms of the Human Being. This system enhances the security and operational efficiency of the dismounted soldier while providing a superior level of comfort.
